It’s hard to admit that my dream job has become a “job job” over the years.

In many ways, that’s a good thing: when it was just a dream, and then a side hustle, it wasn’t sustainable as a way to support my family. I now have growth plans and checkpoints. I don’t often wonder whether I’m wasting my time.

But a “job job” doesn’t run on fun – at least not every day. I find myself behind the wheel of lustful automobiles working through a checklist of talking points rather than emptying the tank (or battery) before I remember I’m supposed to make content.

I’m not a robot; many days I catch myself going through the motions and slap some incredulity back into my consciousness. Still, I don’t savor the drives to the extent I once did.

Which is why my short stint behind the wheel of the Velocity Modern Classics Bronco was so impactful. Wind whipping through the Safari top, Coyote V8 roaring from beyond a seemingly paper-thin firewall, and cushy leather chairs bouncing upon solid axles, I entered driving euphoria in mere moments.

By the time I handed back the key, I’d done a hard reset on my career perspective. In that 45-minute session, I rekindled my child-like joy for cars and couldn’t wait to share it with my audience.

It’s still a real job, and I still have real mouths to feed, but any time I feel responsibility clouding out glee, I’m gonna watch this Velocity Classics Bronco video (on YouTube now) to clear the skies of my heart.
