Great cars can hook you from the first glance, but vehicles like the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing require seat time to seal the deal.

It helps that this CT4 is painted in the same Electric Blue that will adorn my CT5-V Blackwing, but there’s something about the rear end that breaks the spell of attraction.

Step inside and it’s a similar story. The cabin appears, at first glance, comely, but the restrictive rear cabin, tacked on infotainment, and chintzier plastics slowly suck the glamour from any initial excitement.

But none of that matters – or at least not at the scale that would diminish the brilliance of this car’s dynamics. Steering that talks, braking that bites, power that rips, and cornering that invigorates: these impressions last.

Besides, it’s everyone in the CT4-V Blackwing’s wake who has to ponder the rear end design, not you.
