With four turbochargers, eight liters of displacement, and sixteen cylinders, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is the fairytale monster young Teslas grow up fearing. Limited to just 250 examples, the rarified Super Sport may as well be an imagined beast – few will ever see one in the metal. It’s a shame, really, because millions of dollars of development work begs for a close inspection.
The difference between a very good mass production car and the Chiron is that where the scaled vehicle is modeled, engineered, and sold under the watchful eye of an automaker’s bean counters, the Chiron is designed to break boundaries that forgo budgets. From the 1,500-plus horsepower W16 to the climate dial action, each piece of the Super Sport is refined to a level that would exhaust resources and staminas among the mass market supply chain. It’s no wonder Bugatti found 304.77 mph in the Chiron Super Sport 300+; yet you don’t need to move even half that fast to sense the car’s polished dynamics.
On the eve of exclusively electrified transportation, the Chiron Super Sport flexes over 100 years of internal combustion engine development in this POV Drive Review.
