If you were to picture a relaxed driver, he or she might be enjoying a generous seat recline, an elbow perched on the door sill, and a single hand curled loosely around the steering wheel.
The reality for a Rolls-Royce Phantom driver/chauffeur/pilot/captain is that he or she can accurately direct the vehicle with a single finger. So effortless is the steering and so graceful the chassis that the gentlest of inputs can change direction or pace appropriately.
The day’s tension starts to release with the soft clasp of the self-closing doors and melts off completely as you propel the 19-foot long, 5.5-foot tall motor car in uninterrupted silence.
Twelve pistons can lazily patter within their cylinders and two turbochargers can sip air as the three-ton sedan strides down the road. Power, as always, is “adequate” for every circumstance.
Comfort, meanwhile, is superior to all road worthy rivals.
This is the 2023 Rolls-Royce Phantom.
